Jordan condemns ‘incitement campaigns' targeting its aid efforts in Gaza
AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned ongoing 'incitement campaigns' targeting the Kingdom and its continued efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said that such campaigns have included attacks on Jordanian embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.
The ministry's spokesperson Sufian Qudah reaffirmed Jordan's longstanding and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights. He stressed that the Kingdom's efforts to end the aggression on Gaza and address the resulting humanitarian crisis would not be deterred by such 'systematic defamation campaigns.'
Qudah added that the ministry has formally contacted the foreign ministries of countries where the attacks took place, as well as their ambassadors in Amman, urging them to uphold their responsibilities under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Ministry called for full protection of Jordanian missions and their staff.
'The ministry is closely following these incidents with the relevant authorities to ensure that those behind them are held accountable and to prevent further occurrences,' Qudah said.
